Why should I Join?

The benefits of joining are many. Perhaps the most important is that it gives you access to a wealth of knowledge, experience and help concerning all models of Leisure yachts. Much of this knowledge is already on file, in the form of journal and library articles. The journal, 'Saltings', is currently published three times a year; a sample can be seen by clicking here (you need Acrobat Reader to read this file, and you can download if necessary by clicking the icon on this page). Apart from these sources, advice and help is only an e-mail or ‘phone call away.

Help with procurement of spare mouldings and other parts, invaluable since Leisure yachts have been long out of production, is also available.

In some areas local area organisers run rallies and social events, which invariably are convivial affairs……

Eligibility for Membership

The Leisure Owners Association is open to all.

Anyone who owns a Leisure Yacht, or who is interested in promoting the interests of the Association, may join as an ordinary member.

The Leisure Owners pennant is available for £15.

Subscriptions

• There is currently no joining fee.
  
  
• The annual subscription is currently £18 if Saltings, the Association’s journal, is taken in paper form, or £12 if taken electronically.
  
  
• The subscription provides for full family membership, including children up to the age of 18, and runs for 12 months.
  
  
• A reminder is sent before renewal becomes due.

How do I Join?

To join on-line simply click on the 'Join Now' button below. Complete the on-line application form and, if you choose to pay on-line, confirmation of membership will be received almost immediately by e-mail.

If you elect not to pay on line (the ‘Manual’ option), you will be guided where to send your cheque or postal order. Confirmation of membership could then take some days depending on postal delays and the availability of the Membership Secretary to approve your application.

On-line payments are much preferred by the Association, they are much quicker, and minimise the amount of secretarial work that has to be done by the Association.

Most Personal Computers will already have the free Adobe Acrobat reader already installed. However if you find that this is not the case, you may download and install by clicking on the the Adobe icon.

Methods of Payment

• If you have a PayPal account, you can choose this option.
  
  
• You can pay by credit or debit card. Note the your card details are not disclosed to anyone other than the PayPal banking system, which acts as an intermediary.
  
  
• You can pay by cheque (only if drawn on a UK bank), or by postal order.
  
  
• Please note:  Payment by Direct Debit or Standing Order is not possible, and we are unable to accept cash, because of the attendant risks.
  

The Small Print

• Members agree to abide by the Rules and Constitution of the Association, and in particular must advise the Membership Secretary if they wish to resign, or of any changes to their registration details, e.g. address changes. These are in Acrobat (.pdf) format.
• Please note that no subscription refunds are payable in any circumstances and that if you fail to make a subscription payment within 30 days of your renewal date, you will be deemed to have resigned, and will be removed from the list of members.
• The Membership year runs from the anniversary of joining, i.e. if you join on 1st June, your renewal subscription will be due on May 31st of the following year.
• Membership details are held on a database to allow mailing lists etc. to be prepared, and to provide for a membership list to be published on this web site (in the members only protected area). Members have the right to request a copy of the information held in their own database record. The information you provide is subject to all the usual data protection safeguards and The Leisure Owners Association does not make any of this information available to other organisations, without your express consent.
