The Leisure 27SL is basically a Mirage 27, with slightly different interior design. The standard accommodation is six berths in two cabins, with approximately 6' headroom. A marine toilet is fitted in a separate compartment. The galley is normally fitted with a gas cooker, and the fresh water supply is taken to pumps to the galley sink, and a small basin in the toilet compartment. A self draining locker for the gas bottle is at the aft end of the cockpit.

The standard engine is a Volvo 2001 9.5hp (but often optionally a Volvo Penta 2002 18hp) diesel with a conventional shaft drive to a fixed propeller is located under the cockpit. Two batteries are normally fitted, with charging from the engine alternator.

The Leisure 27SL is rigged as a masthead sloop, with aluminium mast and boom. Standing rigging is conventional stainless steel wire, whilst the running rigging is Terylene rope. The yachts are often fitted with headsail reefing systems. Sheet and halyard winches are fitted, the latter on the coach roof. The mainsheet traveller is mounted on the bridge deck, across the companion way entrance.
A boarding ladder is fitted to the transom, and most boats are fitted with the optional stainless steel handrail on the coach roof to permit safe working around the mast.
A plough anchor is fitted, normally stowed on the foredeck.
